Welcome

Welcome to our new blog about growing up Daley. Daniel and Phoebe (Bergeron) Daley were married in 1903 in Bloomfield, Vermont. The parents of 11 children and grand parents of countless others, this site is set up to capture the memories of this amazing family. So all you have to do is select "add new post" and copy and paste or just type in the details. A couple of thoughts, please include your name and family relationship, i.e., Phoebe Bolduc Crais, granddaughter; date (as close as possible) and then your memory, including the names of people involved.

Sample: The Empty Chair: Early 1960's. It wasn't unusual for the family to gather at Grammy and Grandpa Daley's on a Sunday for an impromptu meal. With 11 children, their spouses and 40 plus grandkids, there were never enough chairs for everyone to sit down, so the rule was, if you got up, the chair was open for anyone else to grab. This particular Sunday, Ruby brought a whoppee cushion. After testing it out a few times, much to the amusement of everyone there, the plotting began. Uncle Bernard and Aunt Polly usually arrived later than everyone else, so it was decided that the whoppee cushion would be placed under the cushion of a chair, waiting for their arrival. The call went out "Uncle Bernard and Aunt Polly are here!" The selected chair was quickly vacated and prepared. When they came in the door, Aunt Polly quickly spotted the empty chair and before even saying hello to anyone, ran over to claim her seat. Frrrrt! The whoppee cushion exclaimed loudly and everyone burst into laughter. A good sport, Aunt Polly, said, "I should have known, there's never a vacant chair in this house!"
